that instrucor guy would do my head in if i was testing one of em F1's, I'd have to knock him out Stven-Segal-style then i'd just go banzai all over the road!!!!! there'd be no tyres left hahahhaha

I own a copy of McLaren's official book on the development and history of the F1, "Driving Passion" and it shows a picture of the modem built-in to the fuse access panel... odd.

The book is "Driving Ambition". The fuse access panel houses the port for the modem to connect to that is then wired to the ECU. The modem itself was always a separate device as seen in the video.

The sound quality is more a product of purebred engineering than anything. If you build a no-compromise, no-expense-spared motor from the ground up with the intention of it being the best sports car motor you can build it's bound to sound awesome.
